DRAGGIN CLASSIC SAVED MY SKIN

CRASH VICTIM:
THURSDAY 19TH OCTOBER 2017
HIS STORY

Driving down the Calder Freeway, near the Sunbury turnoff, I was riding my motorcycle whilst pulling a trailer.

I attempted to overtake a car which was also pulling a trailer, and while he was passing, a cross wind whipped past and caused his trailer to jack-knife, throwing me over the handle bars at over 100km/h and over 2 metres into the air.

I landed on my left hip and knee, and rolled down the road until I came to a stop. I suffered minor gravel rash to my waist and upper hip from my jacket riding up.

My Draggin Jeans did their job and saved my butt, with no gravel rash, cuts or abrasions on my legs.

My jeans are a little worse for wear now, with multiple holes in the denim, but not the Kevlar.

When I got to the hospital I was in a room with another rider that wasn’t wearing the right gear and he was likely to be in hospital for 3 months while his skin healed. I still got to go to the MotoGP race. All because I wore the right gear.

I genuinely feel like had I not been wearing those Draggin’s, I might not be here right now.

"The jeans that saved my skin."

THE RIGHT GEAR FOR THE RIGHT TIME

If you think about the reality of being a motorcyclist, you have to give yourself the best opportunity to walk away and you have to understand what you’re doing.

I see a lot of people riding with inappropriate gear including the guy I ended up in hospital with and they don’t get it. It only takes a moment for something to go wrong, for a bad accident to happen, and it can happen to anyone at any time.

That doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re doing something wrong, that you’re not skilled. But what happened to me was nothing to do with my level of skill, or what I can or can’t do on a motorcycle. It was just one of those things and you have to be real about it.

Nobody is going to come and save you. You have to give yourself the greatest opportunity for survival. It’s better to prepare for the crash so you can enjoy the ride.

That means gearing up and if you’re going to gear up, then use the right gear. Plus, if you can look great, and be cool while you’re doing it, then that’s the move!

I replaced my jeans with Men’s Classic Black Jeans. One happy customer!
